This week is marked with the International Volunteer day and we are very happy and proud to be a part of the volunteer movement. Every charity is fully dependent on the volunteers’ involvement, their donations and activities. Dobra tut as the child of Burren Chernobyl Project is no different. And today we say major thanks to all the volunteers that actively support our charities and make a big difference in the lives of those who badly need it!!!
Today we would also like to say a few words about the Irish volunteers that came to stay with the children in the institutions of Belarus this fall. Mairead and Caoimhe arrived in September and had a wonderful time with the children and young adults, organizing discos, movies, games for the older groups and spending lots of time with the bed bound children both Gorodische and Cherven. It was Mairead’s second time in Belarus and she was very happy to be back to the lovely children she met a year ago. For Caoimhe it was the first time experiencing our institutions, but this seems to be a good start of a long friendship.
Dean, an old friend of Cherven, spent a fantastic week with the children, various activities: games and movies and discos, and cooking of course. He became an inseparable part of the orphanage’s life and everyone knows that it won’t be long until he comes back again!
Keelin and Grainne also had some unforgettable time in Cherven in November. The week was full of various events. The kids had a chance to go to the local cinema, and enjoy the lovely company of the two young ladies.
Our volunteers are all wonderful people and we say thanks to everyone from Ireland and Belarus, who keep coming to the children, who are the real family to them, who care, love and keep them in their hearts! You are the best!
