Matthew’s crew
It is always nice to have a feedback from our Irish volunteers about their adventures in Belarus. Some people love to come back and are very happy to see the faces of their friends at least once or twice a year.
That’s exactly the case with Matthew Collins who keeps coming back every year. Usually he does both children’s places in Gorodische and Cherven, but this year it was just Gorodische. Nonetheless, Matthew and the 2 girls – Grace and Atene - had a lot of fun visiting the children and young adults in the orphanage at the very beginning of September.
Matthew shares: “We had a blast, we were there for the kids’ first day of school and I had to do a speech. Everyone was in such great form but also quite sad to see the end of the Irish for a while! Some of the groups are moved around as the orphanage is doing some renovation, so it is a bit intense. Amazing time though, the independent living guys called for tea every night too!”
Hopefully the end of the Irish is not for long and there will be more people to come and spend some time with the children in both orphanages.
We say many thanks to the volunteers and hope to see them back again next year!!! Well done to all!
