Men of Ireland help children of Belarus
We are always happy to welcome our friends from Ireland, who come over to the orphanages of Belarus to give a hand to those who need it so much. Some people come only once, some keep returning to the children they grew attached to. We know that it is not always easy to find free time for a trip, thus we appreciate it even more when our volunteers manage to come over, even if it is just for a few days. Because those few days can make a huge difference.
Today we want to say thanks to the two Irish men- Sean Hegarty and Ronan Cleary, who in April and in May landed in Belarus for quick visits and provided major help to the orphanages and families.
Sean came over in April to deliver a wheelchair to the Gorodische orphanage for a young man Kiril, who is now flying around the place enjoying his freedom. Sean also brought a new chair for Lisa in Cherven orphanage, and a chair for a girl from Minsk – Angelina, who can now go outside in the fresh air!
The trip was very intense with a lot of travelling around the country, but it was all worth it!
Ronan, a GP in Waterford, who is running for the local council too now, paid a short visit to Cherven to see the children in spite of a very busy schedule with the coming elections. Ronan organized a trip for the independent unit boys to the local pizza place and arranged for a magician to come over from Minsk to put up a magic show for the children in the orphanage. Everyone had so much fun! Besides, he donated money towards medication and brought the whole load of clothes for the older boys and girls.
This is really amazing to have such fantastic friends, who keep coming back to the kids, who truly care for the children and keep them in their hearts, even if they are too far away, even if they come only for a short time. And we thank them for everything they do for the children in the orphanages!
Looking forward to the new meetings,
Always yours,
Dobra tut
